2023 Mitsubishi RVR: When Old Become New
The Mitsubishi RVR has been there for quite some time now. Yet, 2023 doesn’t feel just like another year. Improvements have been made, small ones, but it’s not the point here. The market considerably changed over the past decade, and although the RVR seemed on the fall of its life, it suddenly started to climb back.
Two things explain the situation here, the first being that the RVR is one of the last affordable SUVs out there. You may not agree with the second one, but the RVR was made right from the first time. The Japanese SUV was just born a decade too early. Of course, the RVR could and should get a complete revamp, but it would make it more expensive and maybe less reliable than it is now.
Simple and Efficient
I have owned a Mitsubishi RVR, and I can tell you it is excellent for several reasons. First, it is surprisingly spacious and quite comfortable. Its all-wheel-drive system is brilliant. The RVR isn’t perfect. The cabin is quite noisy, and some interior trims are made of the cheapest material on the market. However, that doesn’t matter when you can get your hands on a vehicle this practical for half the money the average new car cost today.
The 2023 Mitsubishi RVR starts at $24,098 with the ES FWD. Then you can get a few more pieces of equipment with the SE FWD version at $26,398. These are perfect, but they’re lacking one thing: its Mitsubishi legendary All-Wheel-Drive system, also called All-Wheel-Control. Luckily, there are five more versions of the 2023 RVR to choose from, which all offers the AWC. Prices range from $26,598 to $35,598, and you get a lot for your money with every single one.
The 2023 Mitsubishi RVR offers two engine options starting with a 2.0 L four-cylinder making 148 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque. To be honest with you, this engine feels a bit short of power at the moment. However, we can’t ignore the fact it is very fuel efficient, with an average fuel consumption of 8.8 L/100 km. If you want more power, there is another engine in the form of a 2.4 L four-cylinder producing 168 hp and 167 lb-ft of torque. That doesn’t seem like much more than the 148 hp of the 2.0 L, but it makes a whole world of a difference. I may have exaggerated a little here, but the 2.4 L is the engine to get with the 2023 RVR.

The 2023 Mitsubishi RVR is a great choice overall. It is competent and practical and doesn’t cost a fortune to buy or to run. Also, the Japanese sub-compact SUV benefits from one of the best warranties in the market with ten years/160 000km powertrain coverage. The 2023 Mitsubishi RVR is an intelligent choice. I think many people started to realize they don’t want the latest technologies of the most expensive and refined vehicle out there, and therefore the RVR is getting back on track.
