7 things to know about the 2023 Mitsubishi RVR

The Mitsubishi RVR has been on the market for quite some time now, and you may know everything about it. However, even as a car journalist, the Japanese sub-compact SUV always surprises me after 12 years. By the way, I used to own one of these back in the 2010s. My first brand-new vehicle was a 2015 Mitsubishi RVR. Please don't get too excited since it was the base version with the manual gearbox. However, it is one of the few vehicles that I am missing.

The Japanese SUV has become quite a successful vehicle over the year. It is affordable and practical, offering one of the best warranties on the market with a ten-year/160,000 km powertrain coverage. In a world where everything seems more expensive and less reliable, it is nice to find a product like the Mitsubishi RVR, which is the complete opposite.

1 – $24,098 to $35,598

With the average new vehicle costing around $45,000, it is pleasant to see you can get a complete SUV that has everything you need for almost half of its price. The 2023 Mitsubishi RVR only costs $35,598, even in its most expensive configuration.

2 – Standard heated seat

For most car manufacturers, heated seats are a luxury, and you must pay extra to get them. Well, not with Mitsubishi since the 2023 RVR offers this characteristic as standard. This makes the base version of the RVR even more attractive.

3 – 1,402 liters of cargo space

Although the Mitsubishi RVR is considered a sub-compact SUV, it offers as much cargo space as most compact SUVs and even more sometimes. This is a clever move from the Japanese manufacturer since cargo space is a significant deal breaker for so many families.

4 – Apple Car Play and Android Auto

This is a must in 2023, and although you would think every vehicle on the market should offer these technologies, they don't. Therefore the Mitsubishi RVR is an even better option than most vehicles. And these systems are just two among a plethora of technologies offered by the Japanese SUV.

5 – A good CVT

I won't lie to you; most CVTs make vehicles more boring to drive. However, this is not the case with the 2023 RVR, where the subcompact Japanese SUV is a lot of fun to drive. I really like the way its CVT behaves.

6 – two engines

Most subcompact SUVs offer only one choice when it comes to powertrain. The 2023 Mitsubishi RVR offers two options starting with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 148 hp. If you want more power, there is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 168 hp.

7 – AWC

Mitsubishi's all-wheel control is one of the main reasons you should get an RVR over most competitors. The Japanese manufacturer has perfected the AWC system over the course of several decades and has success in the rally racing division. It is one of the best all-wheel-drive systems you can get and nothing less.
