Mitsubishi: what is coming for 2023?

2022-12-28

With the end of the year approaching, we can say 2022 was glorious compared to the two previous years for the automotive industry. Thankfully, even if the situation isn't back to normal, most car manufacturers could move forward without the Covid-19 crisis shutting everything down. 2022 has been a good year for Mitsubishi, which finally unveiled the awaited Outlander PHEV.

Although 2022 was an excellent year for Mitsubishi, 2023 will be even better with all the ongoing projects the Japanese manufacturers have. Of course, let's start with Mitsubishi's current lineup.

Mirage

The Mirage is one of my favorite cars currently available on the market. It reminds most car manufacturers that an automobile doesn't need to cost $40,000 to be appreciated by its owners. The 2023 Mirage is powered by a 1.2 L 3-cylinders producing 78 hp and 74 lb-ft of torque. Although it may seem insufficient, it is plenty of power for the subcompact Japanese car. Keep in mind the Mirage only weighs 965 kilos in its heaviest configuration. Therefore, the Mirage is also one of the most economical gas-powered cars on the market, with an average fuel consumption of 6.6 L/100 km in the city and 5.6 L/100 km on the highway, making it even more fuel-efficient than most hybrids. The Mirage may not be Mitsubishi's most popular vehicle. Still, many people are thankful to the Japanese manufacturer for being able to afford a brand-new car with one of the best base warranties in the automotive industry.

RVR

The Mitsubishi RVR has been out there for quite some time now in its current shape. However, it feels like its introduction on the market was yesterday, thanks to several updates. The RVR is one of the most affordable SUVs on the market, yet it is more practical and competent than most of its rivals. Numerous rumors are circulating about the RVR as if the Japanese SUV is near the end of the road. The next generation of the RVR based on the Renault Captur platform has been introduced in other markets already, but many sources claim it will never come to the U.S. and Canada. I don't know what kind of project Mitsubishi has for the RVR in 2023, but it's a vehicle the brand should keep in its lineup with its recent popularity rise, proving it is still relevant to our market.

Eclipse Cross

As I mentioned many times, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross was too futuristic when it came out on the market. Nevertheless, I knew the Japanese SUV would glow one day, and now is the time. Mitsubishi probably knows it too. Therefore the Japanese manufacturer gave the Eclipse Cross a solid refresh for 2023. The 2023 Eclipse Cross is better than ever, thanks to several additions to its standard equipment and new options for most of the different trim levels. The Eclipse Cross popularity increased a lot throughout the past few years, and I won't be surprised if it explodes in 2023.

Outlander

The outlander is a true institution in Mitsubishi's history, but it was time for the Japanese SUV to bring something new to the table, and so it did for 2022 with a complete revamp. The new outlander is one of the most beautiful SUV's currently available on the market. It's modern, refined, and elegant. A. Ralliart version is expected to join the party in 2023, but the Japanese manufacturer's availability for Canada is yet to be confirmed.

Outlander PHEV

The 2023 Mitsubishi star will be the new generation Outlander PHEV. Since it's based on the regular outlander, we knew what was coming for the Japanese SUV, but Mitsubishi pushed things further by making it one of the most capable PHEV SUVs on the market. The 2023 Outlander PHEV comes standard with the Legendary Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC). However, this is not even the best thing about the Outlander PHEV since the Japanese SUV has a full EV range of 61 km, much more than most of its competitors.

Knowing the brand's hype for development and innovation, I am sure there are many more surprises yet to be unveiled by Mitsubishi for 2023; therefore, you should keep an eye on the Japanese manufacturer for 2023.
